Paper Plate Watermelon Fan - Crafts by Amanda

Take for example when I recently went to Lil Man’s scholastic book fair event at his preschool. As I scanned all the books that were available for purchase on the tables, I instantly started to brainstorm various kid crafts we could do in honor of our new favorite finds and of course, share it on the blog {life of a blogger – am I right?!}

So if you haven’t guessed already – that is exactly how today’s kid friendly Paper Plate Watermelon tutorial came to life and I’m so excited to be sharing this easy & really inexpensive kid craft with you all today. I sure hope you take the time to recreate it with your child, as well as grabbing the mentioned book above to read along in celebration. Who knows – you might even find yourself munching on some yummy watermelon afterwards. Happy crafting my friends!

Paper Plate Watermelon {Kid Craft} - Glued To My Crafts

Here is another simple idea for a watermelon themed kid craft! All we did was glue down some green cupcake liners on another piece of cardstock and added some leftover pink tissue paper & black fingertips again for the seeds to the center. Super easy and just as inexpensive too!

Easy and Simple Paper Plate Watermelon Kids Craft Project

* First cut your large paper plate in half. You can either use both halves for this craft or reserve one for later.
* Now squirt some green paint on another paper plate. Using a paint brush, have children paint the outside rim of their paper plate half, green.
* While they are working on that, cut the pink tissue paper into small squares.
* Once the outside rim of the watermelon is completely painted, have children place some glue in the inside of the paper plate and have children place the pink tissue paper on top of the glue, until the center is completely covered.
* To finish off the Paper Plate Watermelon kid craft – have children dip their fingertips into some black paint and then onto the area of the pink tissue paper on the watermelon to give the look of seeds. Repeat a few times. Then let it all dry completely before displaying proudly!
