For this project, you will want to explain the origins of the political ideology with which you are aligned. You will then consider how this ideology impacts you, and discuss its prospects for future political success. When you consider the origins of the ideology you chose, you will want to explain when, how, and why you identify with this particular ideology.
The abstract is typically a short summary of the contents of the document.] Political ideologies (P.I) have existed since the dawn of human Civilization; they have been fought over, discredited, re-approached, and fought over again....
Some people argue that ecology is not a political ideology (Vincent 205). However, this is contrary to Love’s definition and character of ideology. The fundamental concepts of philosophical thought, value and conflict apply in this case with many conflicts surrounding environmental issues in the country and on a global scale. Love notes that the main idea behind ecology is the wise management of nature towards benefitting humans. She adds that although environmentalists usually implement new policies, they do not usually need new values (Love 179).
Political ideology is the certain social, cultural, political and economic order in the society set by the government which is maintained by the chosen policy and symbolism (key personalities which advertise the ideology and the events connected with it). During the long history of its existence the human civilization has created a great number of various political ideologies which served to organize the life of the country. The most well-known political ideologies are absolutism, aristocracy, autocracy, capitalism, communism, conservatism, democracy, dictatorship, fascism, imperialism, monarchy, nationalism, socialism, etc. Absolutism is the political ideology which is characterized with the unlimited power of the ruler. Centuries ago the majority of the European countries had the political system called absolute monarchy, when the whole country was controlled by a monarch.
When some rich social class receives the power and influences the political situation in the country, such system is called aristocracy. The political ideology, which is close to absolutism, is called autocracy, because the decisions are made by the single ruler. Capitalism is the political ideology based on the private property. Communism is the opposed to capitalism ideology based on the social or common property; people fulfill the common amount of work and are awarded according to the amount of the completed work. Democracy is the political ideology which is characterized with the power of common people who elect their representatives into the ruling bodies. Dictatorship is another similar to autocracy and absolutism ideology where the whole power and resources of the country belong to one person.
My political ideology is not a hard stand that seeks to place me as either a conservative or a liberalist. It is rather a mixture of both classical and modern approaches. I seek to draw the best principles and practices from all major ideologies. Times have changed and I believe that a person should not be content with one political philosophy. People should instead seek to learn from the mistakes made in the past. We live in a country where this is possible since we have been governed by people evidencing different political ideologies. They have all made several mistake and subsequently learnt from the same. Some leaders have corrected such factors while still in office while others have remained adamant about the decisions they have made, leaving the next crop of leaders to correct their mistakes and return the country back to its tracks. Despite the varying political ideologies that people have, they have some common characteristics. Each of the political ideologies has a philosophical background that is laden with values derived from people’s personal ideologies (Love VII). Political ideologies are not free from conflict, which has been enhanced by the supporters of that particular view.
My personal ideologies have largely influenced my political stand. I hold and believe that women are equal parts of the society and they have a lot to contribute to the nation. For a country nation to move forward, it should not disregard contributions made by different individuals owing to gender or age. Women should be given equal opportunities in every sector of life. I also hold that people should be let free to exercise their beliefs. I believe that this is one sign of development within a nation. It shows that leaders are not threatened by what people believe, but that they are willing to work around it. Note that, the same also fosters development. When people are able to think freely, they enhance development since they are able to observe ideas from different perspectives. This in turn ensures growth and progress. A person with an individual creed is able to reject common beliefs held by the society regardless of how popular they may be. In addition, one is able to form a different opinion without the fear of rejection. Such people have contributed to the progress of the society since they have been able to invent items without the fear that they will not be accepted.
One important element of an ideology is vision. People should perceive the future even before the actualization process. Vision is important as it enables one to work without distractions. Part of my political ideology is influenced by the liberal view that competition is necessary in any society, especially as related to economic growth. However, history has shown that this can lead to exploitation activities since in any society some people are more privileged than others are. Individuals with more wealth are accorded power and stature in the eyes of the majority. When a government does not insist on accountability, it has resulted to mistreatment as noted through minimum wages. I therefore believe that although competition should be encouraged, government intervention is also necessary to control those who have the habit of exploiting the vulnerable in the society. Change is welcome in all aspects of human life but people should try to maintain traditional moral values, especially those concerned with the family (Schmidt, Shelley, Bardes and Ford 19).
