Jo van Nunen, professor of Logistics and Information Systems and chairman of the research department Decision and Information Sciences at RSM Erasmus University receives a Faculty Award from IBM Research - Zurich. The award honors his outstanding work in the field of Services Sciences in integrated supply chain management.

IBM leaves a mark
As of June 30, Berkshire Hathaway held slightly more than 79 million shares of IBM. That represents approximately 8% of IBM's shares outstanding, which amounts to a $12.3 billion investment today.
In the early 1990s, even IBM, one of the “survivors” of the initial S&P 500 () nearly fell victim to swift change in an ICT market that is relevant for the company in a twofold respect – as an innovation driver and as a core business area. Only by fundamentally changing its business model, organization and corporate culture was IBM able to surmount this crisis, and flexibility and the ability to change fast have since been the basis of its economic prosperity.
Don't count out IBM's turnaround
IBM's stock price is down because its revenue has been stuck in a prolonged decline. In fact, IBM's revenue has fallen for the past 13 quarters in a row. That is an infamous track record that makes IBM a scary proposition as an investment. Thus far, the company has suffered from an inability to expand quickly enough into higher-growth areas like Big Data, security, and the cloud, and it has been dragged down by less-profitable hardware businesses like semiconductor manufacturing.
I recently had the pleasure of speaking with an IBM sales person, and he said that they very much rely on the value of their products, rather than competing on price.
