The institute is presently running BAMS degree programme.
The graduation level (BAMS) Bachelor of Ayurvedic Medicine and Surgery is 5½ years duration course (including internship). The course of the institute are re-orgnised by the Central Council of Indian Medicine, Govt. of India, New Delhi and is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. These 14 departments are headed by the H.O.D. All departments are having well qualified staff who are post graduates in their concerned subjects. Medium of teaching is Hindi/English/Sanskrit.
The college is recognized by Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) which regulates Ayurvedic education in the country. It also determine the number of seats in the college for undergraduates course. The college follows the academic curriculum and guidelinesestablished by CCIM.
The college is affiliated to Himachal Pradesh University Shimla. TheUniversity has independent board of studies and facility of Ayurveda for recommending the curriculum and the mode of examination in the college. The university conducted the examination and awards the degree to the successful student of the college.
12th standard with science or any other equivalents examination recognized by considered state Govt. and education boards, provided the candidate passes the examination with 50% aggregate marks in the subjects of Physic, Chemistry and Biology.
For foreigner student any other equivalent qualification to be approved by the university will be allowed.
Traditional is defined as the handing down of opinions, doctrines, practices, rites, and customs, especially by oral communication.3 Correct word usage would dictate traditional medicine be reserved for Chinese, Ayurvedic, Tibetan, or other indigenous medical systems.5 All of these have century-old philosophies and practice foundations, which are heavily rooted in the traditions of each society.
Abhilashi Ayurvedic college & Research Institute Chail Chowk, is a 60 bedded multi specialty hospital affiliated with the institute. Hospital is situated in the college campus and is managed by full time medical superintendent. This hospital provides the basic facilities for clinical training and research for the BAMS students. It runs the specialities of Kayachikitsa (medicine), Shalya (Surgery), Shalakya (Eye & ENT), Prasuti Tantra Evam Stri Roga (Gynecology), Kaumarbhritya (Pediatrics), Panchkarma, Causality etc.
The hospital has well equipped operation theater and a labour room. The panchakarma and Ksharsutra fascilities provided by this hospital are unique in themselves through the state. The hospital is equipped with investigation fascilities of blood, urine, stools, bio-chemestry investigation, x-rays, ultrasound, ECG. The people of nearby areas in particular and state as a whole are being benefited by the OPD and IPD services of the hospital. The hospital plays a vital role in popularizing the tradition system of Indian medicine in the State. and abroad.
The college has well furnished pharmacy and apart from this a leading pharmacy college is also attached to this college for training purpose of students.
Herbs are the integral part of Ayurveda and elaborate knowledge of these herbs described in Ayurveda. Institute has developed his herbal garden in 2000 sq. meter over having more than 100 species of plants of different habitat.
The college has 30 bedded boys and 60 bedded girls hostel in the campus. The U.G. students are accommodated in these Hospitals.
The college has a working library which has 2790 books. It subscribes about 15 national journals. Separate book has been maintained for SC/ST students. The separate space for teachers and students has been provided. There is computerized library for on line books reading and Journals through internet facilities.
