- In this video we will create output from the drawing.…In AutoCAD terminology that's called making a plot.…And the term plot comes from early output devices…which actually used pens that drew lines individually…on the paper.…Those devices are obsolete but the term remains.…So type in the command name plot.…Alternatively you can press control p…to access this feature,…which is similar to most programs and how they print.…
Having spent so much time and effort configuring the viewport, it would be tragic if you were to accidentally change the scale or change the position of the drawing. You can avoid this possibility by locking the viewport. To do this, click once on the viewport border, to display the Quick Properties panel (assuming quick proerties is turned on). Set the "Display locked" option to "Yes". From now on, AutoCAD will automatically flip back to Paper Space if you should try to use either the Zoom or Pan commands whilst in Floating Model Space. This setting can also be made using the right-click menu. Left-click the viewport border to select it and then right-click to display the menu.
Rely on The AEC Associates for Architectural PDF to CAD conversion services to transform the PDF or paper drawing of any structure into a CAD file, which serves as a reliable repository of the actual blueprint/plan of the structure.
Once you have a drawing open in AutoCAD, it ought to be quite simple to plot it to a known scale but actually, it can be quite complicated for the AutoCAD beginner. The aim of this tutorial is to give you a clear, step-by-step sequence describing the preferred method of creating a scaled paper plot/print from your drawing.

The layout is already configured for a plot.…It has a plot driver, in this case DWG to PDF,…and it has a paper size,…and a plot scale already set.…Let's go ahead and click preview…and see what we get.…Zoom in and you'll see that the red lines…are about the same weight as the black lines.…This is just an approximation of how…the actual plot will look in the PDF.…
AutoCAD scales are based on the principle that both drawing units and paper units are the same and this makes things quite simple. For example, if both drawing units and paper units are millimetres and we want to plot at 1:2,500 we should set the paper units to 1 and the drawing units to 2,500 - simple. But we have a problem because although our paper units are millimetres, our drawing units are metres. This is true of all Ordnance Survey data and very common for drawings used in landscape architecture. So, we need to factor in the change from millimetres to metres when we create out new scale.
Layers in the Vectorworks program are not the same as layers in AutoCAD/Revit (instead, Vectorworks classes are the equivalent). Vectorworks layers are like sheets of vellum, placed one on top of the other, with all layers visible and editable, or only the current layer showing/editable. Like hand drafting, each design layer of a Vectorworks drawing has a scale. Sheet layers, which contain viewports, are at a scale of 1:1 and are the “paper space” equivalent.
Took 2 years to get a rough idea what people are looking for… and resumed working in July 2014, I done A LOT of changes in data structure, cleaned (most of) mess, completed whole Singapore in December 2014 in terms of block number, address and lease year. Number of units remained as done in 2011 (25% completed), the rest 75% will be done AFTER finding a customer willing to pay 50% before 50% after. The long-waited customer came in May 2015, work started, completing number of units for ALL 10,000+ blocks by June 2015! As customers requested, I added also postal codes in June 2015 and unit numbers in 2016. Feel free to request additional data!
